South Beach is often referred to as America’s Riviera and with good reason. The weather is agreeable all year round. The beach is gorgeous – white, fine textured sand, and the sun shines year round. And if beach bumming isn’t enough, there’s a lot to see and do.
South Beach is a sightseer’s Mecca. The Art Deco architecture which reflects the period between the 1920s and the 1930s provides more than one afternoon’s diversion. The Art Deco Historic District, has the world’s largest concentration of restored buildings from this era, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is recognized globally as one of Greater Miami and the Beaches’ unique attractions.
You can get glimpses of the ships heading out to sea at South Pointe Park, the southernmost tip of Miami Beach. If you want a closer look at the ships head to the deep water channel that is called the, for a close-up view of ships heading through the deep water channel known as the Government Cut to the Port of Miami. From here you will see Fisher Island with its Mediterranean style buildings. If you want a closer look at Fisher Island though, you’ll have to take a ferry.
When you have had a day of taking in the sights, its time to get ready and paint the town. In South Beach the choices in restaurants and clubs is immense. Dozens of fine restaurants, cafes and clubs are within a few blocks of one another. The night life scene in South Beach is everything from classy to casual. For dining you can choose from an international slate of restaurants. If your taste is Italian, French, Chinese, Thai, Cuban or Latin American, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for some outstanding seafood, it is there for you too. No matter what time of night it is you won’t go hungry. The restaurants stay open well into the night. In fact it seems that South Beach never sleeps.
South Beach is a unique and special place. The architecture, the weather, the gorgeous beach, the interesting people and the sights all combine to make South Beach a place you don’t want to leave. Come for a visit and see for yourself.
